Pippa Middleton became quite well-known after the royal wedding in 2011 when people thought she almost outshone the bride in her lovely bridesmaid dress. In May 2017, Pippa had a semi-royal wedding of her own. And although the wedding was gorgeous that wasn’t what caught our attention… On one of the many stops of their honeymoon, Pippa and James went glamping!
That’s right, glampers! (We’re a little star struck).
While honeymooning in Australia, there were rumours that the semi-royals were heading to Longitude 131, a five-star glamping hotel in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. It is one of Australia’s most exclusive resorts and has 16 luxury tented pavilions. Guests even have the option of sleeping under the stars on their daybed next to the outdoor fireplace.
Are you itching to go yet? Keep in mind that the cost to stay at Longitude 131 is about R13 000 per person, per night. And that’s just their normal glamping tent. Their top-end accommodation comes out at about R22 000 per person, per night!
The Duke and Duchess also visited Uluru in 2014 as part of their royal tour of Australia and so did Prince Charles and Diana, who toured Uluru in 1983. But… Rumours are dainty morsels and the semi-royals did not end up going to Longitude 131. However, they did honeymoon at another amazing glamping destination – the Sal Salis resort. And there are photos to prove it!
The resort is situated on the Western Australia coast near the Ningaloo Reef and is a remote, beach-side safari camp where the outback meets the reef. Sal Salis is a five-star resort and offers secluded eco-luxe wilderness tents and white sandy beaches. The couple apparently stayed in the honeymoon suite which can cost up to R9 000 per night. And believe it or not, this is with no air-conditioning, limited showers, and composting toilets!
And there you have it… Your (semi) royal glamping update! So, what do you think? Would you go glamping for your honeymoon?
